ENDOSCOPIC FACE LIFT

The development of Endoscopic procedures in recent times has been one of the most important breakthroughs in modern Cosmetic Surgery, and Doctor Pat is one of the country’s leading specialist surgeons in the field.

Significantly less invasive than more traditional head and face treatments, Endoscopic treatments provide more natural and longer lasting results by lifting and refreshing the muscles and tissue layers that give the face its naturally firm and youthful appearance.

An Endoscopic Facelift is a very effective, and relatively inexpensive, way to minimize common signs of aging on the face and neck.

Prior to surgery Doctor Pat will consult with prospective patients, to determine expectations and to explain the procedure, including possible after-effects. This will also help the Doctor assess the patients’ suitability for an Endoscopic Face Lift, and advice on likely results.

Under local or general anesthetic (to be decided at the pre-operative consultancy), three or four small and discreet incisions are made above the hairline or behind the ears. A small probe, equipped with a camera, is inserted through one of the incisions and the Doctor is able to see the procedure on a monitor as he works. Small, specialized surgical instruments are introduced through the remaining incisions and used to remove excess fatty tissue and reshape facial muscles and tissue that have loosened over time. The incisions are then sutured closed.

Without the need for traditional invasive techniques, recovery time is faster, with a lower risk of complications, and there is minimal scar visibility.

Although patients can return to their place of residence following surgery, they will need to return to the clinic after 5 – 7 days for the removal of stitches.

Mild pain and discomfort may be experienced post-operation, for which prescription pain medication can be used.  Some degree of swelling can be expected, but this is only temporary.

FACE / NECK LIFT (RHYTIDECTOMY)

Over time, the face and neck inevitably show signs of aging, the extent of which will vary from person to person. Factors such as exposure to sunlight, eating and drinking habits, illness and genetics will all play a part in this process.

Face and Neck Lift Cosmetic Surgery can result in a rejuvenated, more youthful appearance by tightening and lifting facial skin to significantly reduce the visible aging signs. A number of facial areas can be selected for surgery including :

  • Brow Lift
  • Fore Head Lift
  • Temporal Lift
  • Mini Lift
  • Mid Face Lift
  • Neck Lift
  • Rhytidectomy with SMAS Lift
  • Liposuction

Prior to treatment Doctor Pat will consult with prospective patients, to determine expectations and to explain the procedure, including possible after-effects. This will also help the Doctor assess the patients’ suitability for Face and Neck Surgery, and advice on likely results. At this stage the Doctor will explain the varying types of procedure, from Deep Plane Lifts to Feather Lifts, and will discuss the merits and possible defects of the treatment.

Under local or general anesthetic (to be decided at the pre-operative consultancy), the facelift procedure involves the Doctor making incisions in front of and behind the ear, possibly extending into the hairline. He will then elevate the skin, tighten facial and neck muscles, and remove any excess skin.

If the patient is undergoing Neck Lift Surgery, the Doctor will remove excess fat from the neck and jowls by Liposuction, and reposition or remove excess skin.

Following the operation a drain may be fitted and heavy neck and face bandaging will be in place. Once these are removed, it is advised that the patient wears a removable chin strap for a few weeks. Sutures are removed 7 – 10 days after the operation.

Mild pain and discomfort may be experienced post-operation, for which prescription pain medication can be used.  Some degree of swelling and bruising can be expected, and ice packs can be used to reduce this. Refraining from smoking and exposure to second-hand smoking will speed up the recovery and healing process.
